How MAYAN ALFA handles personal data.

This notice explains how MAYAN ALFA handles personal data across the public website, direct communication, archive navigation, and the supporting services used to operate the project.

The current processing scope is intentionally limited: public website access, direct email contact, basic hosting logs, and service metadata required for site security and availability. MAYAN ALFA does not use advertising trackers, public profiling systems, or automated decision-making unless a later policy explicitly states otherwise.

Controller and contact

MAYAN ALFA is operated by David Hess. For privacy requests, access requests, correction requests, or any other data protection question, contact david.hess@mayanalfa.com.

What may be processed

MAYAN ALFA may process information you send by email, basic technical logs generated by hosting services, and limited metadata required to keep the public website secure, reachable, and operational.

Purpose of processing

Personal data is used to answer direct messages, operate the website, keep public archive and validation pages available, and protect the service from misuse, spam, abuse, or technical disruption.

Retention and sharing

Data is kept only for as long as necessary for the stated purpose or as required by applicable law. If hosting, mail, security, or preservation services process data on behalf of the project, only the minimum necessary information should be shared.

What MAYAN ALFA does not do

At present, the site does not use advertising analytics, remarketing, behavioural profiling, public account profiling, or automated decision-making. If this changes, the relevant notice will be updated before the new processing begins.
